WEB ACCESSIBILITY CONSULTANT

 

About the Role: As an Accessibility Consultant, you will ideally have a few years of experience in manual web accessibility audits, automated accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies. You will perform accessibility audits for various clients and contribute to efforts aimed at delivering accessible websites, applications and content by conducting accessibility evaluations.

The Web Accessibility Consultant is responsible for identifying issues through accessibility testing and suggesting potential solutions for accessibility barriers based on the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards as well as compliance with the ADA, Section 508, and other accessibility related laws.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fully automated and manual audits for client requirements
  • Establish communication and monitor implementation of corrective actions based on audit findings
  • Suggest necessary support procedures and training documentation
  • Collaborate with web developers on WCAG compliant designs
  • Record problems/defects identified during testing
  • Retest problems after they are resolved by the development team
  • Communicate the status of testing, including reporting of overall test results

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus three years of experience with accessibility testing
  • Experience working with and/or developing web content that achieves Level AA conformance as
  • prescribed by the W3C, (WCAG 2.1)
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1
  • Thorough knowledge of personal computers, internet technologies, and Microsoft Office suite of tools including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of programming concepts
  • Working knowledge of HTML / CSS / JavaScript / ARIA

 

Desired Skills:

  • Thorough working knowledge of how to make web content and applications compliant with WCAG 2.0 Level AA Standards
  • Ability to identify and suggest potential solutions to deliver accessible content on web and mobile devices
  • Extensive knowledge of manual and automated accessibility testing
  • Demonstrated ability to gather resources and information needed to understand content and options
  • Ability to utilize assistive technologies such as screen readers
  • Ability to utilize computer technology for communication, data gathering and reporting activities
  • Ability to communicate to a wide range of project stakeholders, e.g., Executives, Managers, Designers, Developers, and Administrators
