OVERVIEW

Fractured Atlas, the largest association of artists in the U.S., is looking for a full-time Accounting Associate to provide support to the Finance team by managing daily accounting tasks and serve as a point of contact for financial transaction communication across teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Post journal entries including bills, invoices, and payroll transactions;
• Assist with account analysis and bank reconciliations;
• Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, grant financials, and other financial reports;
• Assist in month-end close and annual audit preparation and vouching activities;
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processing;
• Coordinate and execute the filing of regulatory tax forms including (1099, 1042 and state charity renewal forms);
• Communicate financial activities across departments in a timely, error-free manner.

IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL:

• Report to the Controller, work closely with the Senior Director, Financial Operations & Analysis, and collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, including the Programs, External Relations, and Engineering teams;
• Contribute to the achievement of company and department goals through the timely processing of financial data and coordination with various teams;
• Ensure compliance with all accounting policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining its integrity and accuracy;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel;
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to quickly prioritize and pivot between tasks;
• Self-motivated and self-directed. Must have superior attention to detail and be proactive in accomplishing set goals and objectives;
• Possesses a team mentality! The Finance team (if we say so ourselves) is energetic, innovative, and straight-up fun. We work well together and are passionate about what we do.
• Are versed in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and monitor updates with FASB recommendations and standards;
• Bonus points if you are:
  • Proficient in Quickbooks or similar Accounting software;
  • Familiar with non-profit accounting standards;
  • Experienced with data analytics platforms;
  • Passionate about independent artists, creative makers and doers!

LOCATION

This position can be 100% virtual (with travel about 2-3 times per year). The Fractured Atlas staff currently live and work in 11 different states, with the organization transitioning to be entirely virtual by January 1, 2020. As such, you can live and work almost anywhere in the United States with a reliable high-speed internet connection. Although you can work from almost anywhere, you must be available to attend meetings during a 9AM-6PM EST window.

COMPENSATION

Salary is $48,811.20/year (overtime eligible).
