Posted almost 2 years agoAccounting Manager- Revenue ANYWHERE IN US FULL-TIME Articulate is looking for a roll up your sleeves Accounting Manager who operates with business savvy as much as accounting skill to join our Finance team. The Accounting Manager will oversee and support the day-to-day billing to cash operations in a high transaction volume environment with rapidly growing revenue. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the order to revenue life cycle in a SaaS environment with the ability to troubleshoot order and billing issues cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Care and IT. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Accounting Manager will manage the billing and collections team through the revenue close process to ensure accurate revenue recognition, sales tax filings, cash application and reporting. You will own the accounting system management inclusive of configuration, maintenance, data imports, system upgrades and new product rollout testing. The delivery of monthly revenue reporting and analytics will be crucial to the success of this role. Especially important is the understanding of data dependencies in the development of subscription (SaaS) analytics such as LTV, ARPA, MRR, CAC and ACV. Our 100% remote Finance team operates cross-functionally to produce accurate billing, financial reports, and analytics to drive key decision making with business partners. Responsibilities: Manage 2 or more staff overseeing billing, collections, cash receipts application and the monthly revenue close process Manage the Intacct accounting system, specifically the Revenue, Order Entry and Receivable modules, to scale with growth while improving transactional efficiency in workflow and cost Manage and reconcile daily, weekly & monthly data imports by transaction type: Credit Card, Purchase Order and Refunds/Returns Maintain and reconcile Deferred Revenue schedules ensuring accurate revenue recognition Manage and reconcile the Sales Tax Payable transactions between Intacct and Avalara Reconcile the Credit Card suspense accounts between merchant, bank and order/revenue systems Create and maintain revenue reporting across multiple data platforms, reconciling Billings & GAAP revenue by product, sales channel, and geographic region Maintain revenue & expense allocations for product and region profitability and SaaS metrics Deliver monthly revenue-to-plan & analytics for presentation to senior management Qualifications: Degree in Accounting or Finance 5-7 years or more of revenue accounting experience in a subscription/SaaS business environment Comfortable and productive working from home or in an autonomous environment Experience with CRM/Sales Order systems such as Salesforce Proven management of hosted SaaS billing/accounting systems such as Intacct, NetSuite Familiar with financial system report writers; able to design, develop and maintain revenue reports An Excel guru; able to build and maintain revenue planning models to predict taxable income, EBITDA and cash flow as well as understanding SaaS metrics such as LTV, CAC, ARPA, MRR and ACV Solution-driven problem solver, strong work ethic, organization skills, and attention to detail Highly collaborative, able to work cross functionally Special Knowledge/IT Skills Knowledge of software revenue recognition accounting rules (including ASC606) and the different types of software licenses (perpetual, subscription/SaaS) as well as a firm grasp of SaaS metrics is critical. Strong excel skills and prior experience downloading large data sets able to review, reconcile and analyze the data via pivot tables, v-lookup and csv files is required. Familiar with merchant systems such as Stripe or Authorize.net and the reconciliation process between bank, merchant and accounting systems.
