Job Description

Key Areas of Focus/Scope of role:

  • Providing technical and statistical support to researchers on projects requiring advanced analytics
  • Identifying ways to complement custom research with data products (Square and/or Cube) and other workstreams, and support the consistent implementation of these Cube-aligned methods globally
  • Delivering market leading analytics solutions while conscious of the need to drive down cost / increase project contribution

 

What are they accountable for?:

  • Application of a broad range of advanced analytical techniques to enhance YouGov’s research solutions
  • Supporting the research design process to ensure analytics are appropriately integrated
  • Generation of analytics-driven insight that is market leading in quality and depth
  • Ensuring consistency of methodology and outputs across geographies.
  • Increasing efficiency/decreasing costs involved in delivery of advanced analytics solutions
  • Integrating analytics solutions and outputs with existing YouGov tools and systems
  • Formation of a globally accessible analytics center of excellence within YouGov, alongside the US analytics team
  • Driving the highest levels of technical knowledge within the analytics team
  • Constantly innovating and evolving YouGov’s analytics offering, utilizing YouGov connected data as well as relevant sources of internal and external technical expertise
  • Developing rigorous and transparent pricing for analytics services

 

Responsibilities and decisions:

  • Accurate diagnosis of analytic requirements based on client objectives. Where necessary, this includes challenging client assumptions on whether, or how analytics should be applied
  • Contributing to proposals and pitching activity where there is an advanced analytics component
  • Hands on guidance of statisticians in selecting appropriate techniques to answer research questions and in identifying best ways to present data to internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing high quality deliverables that are clear, compelling and make a significant contribution to the report narrative
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to understand findings and implications from analysis. 
  • Developing tools and processes to standardize our approach to the more commonly requested analytics requirements e.g. basic KDA, segmentation, maxdiff, conjoint offerings. 
  • Supervising adoption of custom analytics methods globally, ensuring they are aligned with best practices and efficient use of resources
  • Identifying ways of lowering cost / increasing contribution for their sector insight projects
  • Putting together training and case studies to help sales and research teams around the business sell this offering
  • Line management, growth & coaching of team members, including conducting performance reviews
  • Upskilling US and EU analytics to address current gaps in knowledge (e.g. segmentation and maxdiff/conjoint capabilities among EMEA analytics branch). 
  • Also upskilling senior members of the EMEA/US team to replicate Ben’s Profiles data analysis specialism, to boost capacity of the team in these techniques and keep up with demand.
  • Building analysts’ capabilities to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision and acquire analytical, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Developing self-service tools for some basic analytics and support move for analytics output to be available through Crunch
  • Working with key accounts on proposing and implementing custom analytics solutions for high-value clients, then sharing these innovations so that they can be recycled with other clients
  • Building a public face for tech & data at YG (a tech blog, open-source work, conference presentations, etc)
  • Looking for ways to bring together Insight, Analytics, DIU, and other technical teams in the company to promote within-team and within-office learning on topics related to research methods, statistics, and polling.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years’ relevant experience, gained at a research agency or a mix of agency and client-side
  • Experienced in selling and delivering complex and large-scale research studies
  • Strong depth and breadth of primary research expertise, across different methodologies and sectors
  • Quantitative research experience essential
