Promote the sharing and adoption of Red Hat’s application platform solutions with our largest telecommunications (telco) accounts. The Red Hat Sales team is looking for an Application Platform Sales Specialist to join us. In this role, you will support Red Hat's strategy by enabling customers to define, develop, and deploy their next-generation middleware strategies. You'll be responsible for building strategic relationships with executives and key business leaders to promote our portfolio of middleware solutions, including application development, application and service hosting, business rules management, business process management (BPM), content aggregation, data federation, and service integration on-site or in the cloud. As an Application Platform Sales Specialist, you'll need to have experience selling solutions within major telecommunications accounts. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.


  • Work with the telco sales teams to plan the overall middleware strategy within a set of defined accounts
  • Guide the customers from their initial adoption of basic application server and hybrid cloud technology and grow the account to include rules engines, business process management (BPM) platforms, enterprise service buses (ESBs), enterprise messaging, portals, etc.
  • Gain the trust of senior information technology (IT) and business executives within key accounts, creating long-term partnerships
  • Work with enterprise sales teams to ensure that Red Hat Middleware and related solutions become the first choice for our strategic customers

  • 8+ years of experience in a solutions sales role
  • 4+ years of experience focused on enterprise middleware like Red Hat Middleware, IBM WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic, MuleSoft, or TIBCO
  • Experience with telecommunications operations support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS)
  • Background in consultative customer engagement with a middleware provider or on the sales team of a middleware reseller
  • Broad technical experience with enterprise middleware technologies
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to executives at large firms
  • Ability to sell solutions in a multi-offering environment
  • Proven ability to work with global cross-functional teams and achieve success for customers
  • Balance of strategic and tactical skills
  • Master's degree or equivalent is a plus
