The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a sales engineer with expertise in enterprise Java applications to join us as an Application Platform Solutions Architect in Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA or another major city on the East Coast. In this role, you will be the catalyst creating possibilities, solving problems, and establishing working relationships with customers. You’ll need to have a balance of technical expertise, passion for open source, thorough understanding of business processes, and the ability to identify and create business solutions across multiple technology platforms at the enterprise level. As an Application Platform Solutions Architect, you will also need to have excellent communication and people skills because you'll play a crucial role in the first major experience our customers have with Red Hat.

  • Provide technical credibility to the Red Hat Application Development sales team for Red Hat Middleware and Red Hat OpenShift solutions
  • Provide technical credibility to the Red Hat Middleware sales team
  • Discover and analyze customer business and technical needs
  • Collaborate with the sales and technical delivery teams to bring our customers the most efficient solutions
  • Architect, design, and present multi-offering solutions to customers
  • Support the sales team with recommendations for development and implementation of complex offerings and solutions that result in the achievement of sales quotas
  • Answer technical questions from prospective customers in place of the sales team; questions are often in the form of requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposal (RPIs)
  • Meet revenue goals, deployment, and service objectives while sustaining good relationships with existing and prospective customers
  • Provide feedback to product management teams on the direction and feature usefulness of our offerings

  • 3+ years of enterprise Java development experience
  • Standard and enterprise Java programming skills
  • Experience as a sales engineer, consultant, IT architect, or experience working in an equivalent role with enterprise accounts
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a proven record of developing relationships at both the engineering and executive levels
  • Ability to interpret customer business and technical needs
  • Willingness to work as part of a geographically distributed team
  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about open source technologies and community-based development
