ASSISTANT MATH EDITOR, GRADES K-5 The Assistant Math Editor will provide editorial support in developing educational materials for students and teachers of mathematics for Grades K-5. We are seeking a self-motivated, naturally inquisitive person who not only asks but proactively seeks out answers to questions. The ideal candidate is detailed-oriented, passionate about math, eager to learn about educational publishing, and excited to dive into all areas. The impact you’ll have: This position offers a highly motivated self-starter the opportunity to develop their editorial skills and gain knowledge about creating educational materials while assisting the Product Development team to process a high volume of projects from submission to fulfillment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Contribute to the development of student lesson and teacher guide materials incorporating Common Core or state-specific content and mathematical practices Create and review manuscript for materials such as TOCs, correlations, materials and vocabulary lists, etc. Create art specs Proofread and correct manuscript and page proofs Review, edit, and mark page proofs Perform answer checks and cold solves Help in tracking and releasing project materials Support maintenance of project documentation, including guidelines and checklists With supervision, write or revise portions of manuscript according to guidelines and company standards of quality What we’re looking for: Proven writing and editing skills Attention to detail Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task A proactive and flexible thinker, always looking for smarter and more efficient ways to work A team player who works productively and cooperatively with a wide range of people Ability to respond quickly in an environment of changing priorities Ability to act on constructive feedback to refine skills and reduce mistakes. Proficiency in the use of computers and software programs including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat. Ability to adapt to new technology quickly Bachelor’s degree in math, education, or a related field Grade K-5 Elementary Math Background, understanding of instruction and pedagogy We’d also love to see (though not required): Editorial experience in educational publishing Teaching, tutoring, or other classroom experience Familiarity with Common Core standards Salary Commensurate with experience. Location Billerica, MA/Boston, MA; working remotely is an option
