• Work on algorithms and ML: Create machine learning algorithms to adapt to our users engagement and usage patterns, recommending content specifically for them and their needs.

• Build out our infrastructure & data: Architect the best ways to store and process data, help expand our current infrastructure globally, keep latency low, fine-tune automated testing, logging, and monitoring.

• Craft tooling and flows: Build internal tooling to help our teams manage and create new types of content for our users.

• Ownership: You’ll report to Chris, our VP of Engineering, and will own the dev for the entire backend of our platform, including our APIs and data processing.

• Growth: You’ll get to journey with a VC-backed Silicon Valley startup from the beginning. When the company is this small, every employee is a core team member who is expected to help build the company as a whole as we settle into a culture and continue to expand the team.

• Flexibility: HQ will be in Chicago with the full team and would love to have everyone there. That being said, we’re super flexible with location / hours; don’t care when or where you work, just that it gets done.

• Experience: A foundation of 4+ years of experience in Javascript or TypeScript (primarily NodeJS); experience building scalable, resilient and secure applications; knowledge of application architecture and design; experience with SQL, specifically MySQL; experience building APIs and working with Web-sockets; experience working with AWS, deploying to the cloud, and server management

• Bonus, but not required: front-end experience working with web frameworks like Vue.js

• Grit & Detail-Oriented: A start-up is tough and we really care about what we’re doing. You'll be jumping into a brand new role in a fast-moving team - perseverance and attention to detail are important.
