We run extensive crawlers that crawl the entire web 24/7, storing terabytes of data that need to be indexed, processed and queried. Our SaaS product is used by over 3400 customers, ranging from publishers like BuzzFeed to Fortune 500 brands like Disney. We are looking for a backend engineer with experience in Ruby, Elasticsearch and/or distributed systems. This role will involve coding in Ruby to improve our infrastructure and back-end operations, as well as responding to incidents in production. There will be minimal work developing new features. We are a remote team, mostly based in the US and UK. What you’ll be doing: Improve our monitoring infrastructure Perform upgrades on our existing Elasticsearch clusters Refactor existing Elasticsearch queries Occasionally provision new servers and databases Recommend and implement ways to improve uptime and performance Required Skills: Ruby and Ruby on Rails Experience with Sidekiq or a messaging queue Knowledge of distributed systems Nice to Have: Elasticsearch Postgres Redis What we offer: Benefits: We offer a range of benefits including; bike to work scheme, pension contribution and discounted gym memberships.
