Business Development Manager Location US-REMOTE | US-Thousand Oaks, CA, or Washington, DC Req # 18-5333 # Positions 1 Category Sales (US) – National Accounts Overview Summary: The Business Development Manager is responsible for working with our key digital partners to increase sales of SAGE digital products through effective relationship management and successful implementation of mutually beneficial programs. In this role, you will help develop, drive and operationalize the SAGE strategic digital vision with focus on initiatives, such as Inclusive Access. You will own all aspects of initiating and developing relationships with key digital partners including identifying, communicating vision, negotiating terms, and assisting with technical integrations. A successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the abilities to learn quickly and deliver results. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities Responsibilities: Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships with a focus on profitability, mutual sales growth, and efficiency Prepare and give business reviews to internal and external stakeholders, reviewing progress against financial and strategic objectives Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, working cross functionally with sales, finance, legal, operations, and the senior leadership team Forecast and report business growth and other key metrics, including tracking actual progress toward forecasts Evaluate and prioritize opportunities from a strategic, financial and operational point of view while translating data into actionable strategies for partners and SAGE Assist college sales team with partner specific issues, developing strategies to resolve situations with the goal of maximizing sales Develop and deliver customized trainings and documentation to college and institutional sales teams as it pertains to working with channel partners and programs Qualifications & Education Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS degree required Minimum 5 years work experience 3+ years experience working with higher education channel partners, in particular digital partners such as Redshelf and VitalSource Adept in Microsoft Office programs Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Strong analytical skills with a track record of developing actionable recommendations from data Professional oral, written and communication skills for effective contact and presentation with internal and external stakeholders Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational & project management skills
