About the Role


Are you self-motivated, detailed-oriented, and results-driven? We are looking for a sharp, driven person with a passion for great writing and clear communication—and the belief that technology can help achieve those goals.


We are hiring a Business Development Associate to join our growing team. You will be primarily responsible for driving enterprise growth, identifying new business opportunities, expanding adoption within our existing customer base, and promoting the value of WordRake. You will become a trusted advisor and primary point-of-contact for some of the world’s top law firms and companies.


Our highest concentration of users consists of legal professionals in North America so you must be comfortable working within the legal world and able to work a consistent schedule within US business hours. You’ll get to set your own consistent schedule based on business hours in any continental US time zone, but you must be able to occasionally work early or late to connect with potential customer organizations across the globe.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Actively prospect to create new revenue opportunities and drive enterprise growth, identify and pursue new business opportunities, and increase sales within existing customer base
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with customer stakeholders to create champions and advocates
  • Build and cultivate customer relationships with CIOs, Managing Partners, IT directors, individual partners, and others
  • Demonstrate WordRake to potential customers and attend face-to-face meetings as needed
  • Communicate the value proposition of WordRake’s solutions
  • Listen to, empathize with, and understand customer objectives, and articulate technology and business trends and benefits
  • Proactively coordinate with internal teams to support sales and marketing activities and ensure customer satisfaction; provide customer feedback internally to influence product development
  • Effectively manage all steps in the sales process and track progress in CRM system
  • Negotiate contract terms and manage renewal process
  • Represent WordRake at events to influence sales opportunities


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree; graduate-level legal degree and/or certification a plus, but not required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong knowledge of MS Office
  • Tech savvy with the ability to quickly learn the technology involved with the sales and implementation process
  • Comfortable proactively engaging customers via phone, email, social media, or in-person
  • Detail-oriented and dependable, with the ability to prioritize and relentlessly follow up
  • Strong initiative, drive, and self-direction, with ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable in a quickly changing environment and loosely defined procedures
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to deliver product demonstrations independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, including partner and non-partner levels, and with front-line law firm specialists and administrators
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations and decision-making processes
  • Confident, quick-thinker, with the ability to influence and persuade
  • Willingness to continuously learn and improve your processes
  • Comfortable with marketing automation tools and CRM (preferably HubSpot)
  • Ability to work from home on a PC with Windows, using Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Willingness to travel (up to 15%+ of time)
  • The ideal candidate will be tech savvy and have 3+ years of experience in the legal world as a business development associate, lawyer, paralegal, legal project manager, legal engineer, technology trainer, procurement manager or have gained similar market understanding in a role within a technology company that serves the legal industry
