The Red Hat North America (NA) Public Sector team is looking for a Cloud Consultant to join us. In this role you will guide the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. Through a series of interactions both in-person and remote, you'll win the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of our solutions. You'll need to have a thorough working knowledge of and practical experience with cloud architectures like Infrastructure-as-a-Solution (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Solution (PAAS) and their supporting infrastructures and scripting languages (Python, Ruby, and Puppet). You'll also need to have a deep level of knowledge in either cloud software-defined networking (SDN) or storage (object and block) disciplines and DevOps models and technologies. As a Cloud Consultant, you will play a critical role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's product business, product engineering, support, professional services, and sales teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. You'll serve as a customer advocate within these organizations to deliver the right solutions and to ensure that these solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. Remote candidates will also be considered. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.


  • Implement and integrate Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies like Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) platforms like Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat OpenShift, and Red Hat CloudForms
  • Collaborate with project and customer team members to meet timelines and goals
  • Contribute to project documentation and diagrams including quality assurance (QA) and ticket and bug management
  • Participate in mentoring and knowledge transfer to customers
  • Develop and implement automation and integration for our customer cloud and system infrastructure solutions using Ruby, Python, or Puppet
  • Work with senior associates to guide adoption of automation techniques and DevOps processes to improve cloud life cycle, including infrastructure and application uptime, availability, and time-to-market
  • Design and advocate solutions using cloud technologies, design principles, integration points, and automation methods

  • 3+ years in a related technology role in consulting, operations, development, or related internships
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud and Linux technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with automation frameworks and tools like Puppet, Red Hat Ansible Automation, or CFEngine
  • Ability to serve as a technical mentor to consultants providing valuable, timely, and accurate technical mentoring
  • Ability to serve as a technical lead on a basic project, for example a one-week Red Hat Satellite deployment or basic Red Hat Middleware health check
  • Experience with shell scripting; ability to effectively write in an interpreted language like Python (Red Hat standard) or Perl (ability to read and understand C or similar programming language)
  • Performance tuning experience with the customer
  • Top Secret clearance; Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Entry On Duty (EOD) suitability are a plus

  • Clustering and storage management
  • Varied types of virtualization
  • Identity management focused around Red Hat’s technologies
  • Security management with focus around SELinux policy creation and hardening Kernel internals
