Kukui is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our distributed teams of engineers.  This role will oversee and lead the team in implementing modern best engineering practices including Agile, DevOps, and Quality Control.     

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Oversee and contribute to the planning and design of software and web applications.
• Review existing platform and technologies and work with Production Management in creating a technology roadmap that aligns to Kukui’s business strategy and vision.
• Organizes and implements best practices for development pipeline from dev environments through production.
  
  • Including: coding standards, code reviews, unit tests, source control management/branching strategy, build processes, testing and operations.
• Ensures engineers and process are current with modern engineering practices.
• Manages exempt and non-exempt employees within the United States and Bulgaria.
• Hires, mentors and trains staff.
• Flexible schedule to adapt to time zone differences. 
• Oversee implementation of automated testing approach and practices. 
• Contribute to and oversee architectural design and execution.
• Some travel including international to overseas offices.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented principles.
• Extensive experience as a fullstack .NET Developer (ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, .Net Core, etc).
• Experience with Javascript technologies (ReactJS, AngularJS, VueJS).
• Management experience with distributed, international teams/offices.
• Experience with Source Control Management tools including Git and Subversion.
• Experience creating and executing build pipelines with Jenkins.
• Experience with agile frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban.
• Understanding of SQL – database structure and stored procedures.
• Willingness to extend technical knowledge beyond .NET.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks, code coverage and static code analysis tools.
• Experience with architectural design patterns.

Nice to Have:

• Experience architecting and building cloud-based multi-tenant applications.
• Experience building Microservices.
• Experience with tools like Docker or Kubernetes are a plus. 
• Experience implementing Agile with non-Agile teams.
• Experience with building applications for online marketing – including SEO, Adwords, Campaigns).
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira).
• Experience developing or extending Open Source or custom CMS’.

Working Experience:

• 6+ years as a developer.
• 3+ years contributing to the architecture of large-scale web-based systems.
• 3+ years in a management role (dev lead, manager).

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
