User Interviews helps teams discover and embrace user insights by streamlining the user research process. We believe this is what allows companies and products to succeed. We know, because our first company flopped—read our origin story.

You’ll be joining a team that cares deeply about talking to our users, creating great experiences for them, and incorporating their feedback into everything we do. Plus, it is a chance to build a product used by your peers at world class companies. There is a fun-meta-geekiness to the whole thing that never gets old.

About the role
You will be reporting to the VP of Product and oversee the entire Product Design function at User Interviews. This team currently consists of 3 Product Designers and will be growing rapidly as the company continues to scale. You will be responsible for creating a culture of excellence within the design team that drives business impact and ensures we can attract and retain top talent.

Here are some of the core responsibilities you will own in this role.
• Design vision & principles – establish an exciting long term vision for the team to pursue and the principles we will use to realize it.
• Design processes – optimize how we review one another's work and how we collaborate with key stakeholders.
• Design system – prioritize investments to continue building our component library to help us deliver a more consistent experience.
• Scaling the team – mentor and grow the existing team and improve our hiring processes for future roles.

Our business continues to scale rapidly, which means there is a tremendous opportunity for growth in this role. It is a chance for a talented individual to build a team in their vision and deliver immediate impact on the business.

About you
The baseline is someone who is smart, self-motivated, and a dynamic leader. But here are some specific traits that we think will allow someone to thrive in this role:

• You deeply enjoy coaching and mentoring designers who are earlier in their career.
• You're naturally curious and are always learning something new.
• You’re pragmatic – you embrace constraints and view them as a creative catalyst.
• You're passionate and accountable about the work you take on.
• You love user research.

Skills & experience
• 2+ years in a design management role (bonus points if you managed a team of designers working on a SaaS product).
• Robust knowledge of design techniques and best practices.
• Strong track record as an individual contributor earlier in your career.
• Experience aligning design initiatives with broader business & product outcomes.

About us
We’re a fully remote team (even in the before times). We are proactive about staying close to one another despite not sharing the same physical space. Remote culture is real and we care about it – a lot. We also just raised our Series A and are incredibly excited about what is ahead!

We care a lot about feedback. From our users, of course. But also from each other. We hold company wide retros to make sure we’re always improving and everyone has a place to voice their feedback.

We’re a little weird? We’re fun? We’re empathetic? Don’t worry about it too much, there will be plenty of time to get to know us as we get to know you.
