Director of Software Development - Quadrant 3 Engineering

We're looking for a highly technical Software Development leader who can provide leadership for several small teams of engineers in an innovative and fast paced environment. You will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of technical projects. You will be a Quality Champion, spearheading all of Lightning’s testability: from internal tools and processes, to customer-facing testing tools, standards, education, and best practices. You will enable internal and external customers to write and test high quality Lightning code.

Responsibilities:

• Drive innovation and manage technical projects to deliver high quality to customers

• Represent the team in interactions with senior management.

• Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members

• Assign areas of ownership, ensure engineers have clear priorities and adequate resources

• Maintain high morale and motivate engineers to go above and beyond

• Manage day-to-day objectives, priorities, trade-offs, risk and performance management of all reporting staff

• Work with architects and product management to develop long term vision and break it down into deliverable chunks

• Communicate status, risks, and offer mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery of all committed projects to cross-functional teams and high-level management

• Resolve conflicts and facilitate team and cross-team discussions

• Drive quick resolution of issues in production, including communication with technical support staff and with customers

Required Skills/Experience:

• 7+ years software development experience with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects

• 4+ years relevant experience managing large, fast-paced and dynamic engineering teams

• Experience in managing complex projects that require a deep understanding of the application logic and dependencies

• Skilled with a broad range of testing tools, from Mockito to Selenium, and well-versed in modern testing techniques

• Experience with code analysis and test analysis tools

• Strong technical skills in modern UI Frameworks

• Experience in JavaScript, Java/C++, Oracle

• Establish credibility with smart engineers quickly

• Ability to motivate people, instill accountability and achieve results

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, impeccable organizational and time management skills

• Agile, proactive, comfortable working with ambiguous specifications and can prioritize on the fly

• Experience in short release cycles, the full software lifecycle, and have worked on a product that was actually released for public consumption

• Bachelor's Degree. A BS in CS or EE preferred.
