What you'll do:
The Controller will report to the CFO and be responsible for accounting operations including accurate and timely month-end close, internal controls, internal/external reporting, management of our external audit, compliance, tax, and treasury. This person will be a trusted partner to the CFO and must be comfortable both in the detail ensuring financial reporting accuracy as well as being able to rise up and think strategically to scale the company. The ideal candidate must be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of professional who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This is also a unique opportunity to work closely with the Product teams for Airbase to provide input into features/functionality of our spend management platform.
 
About the Team:
The Accounting team currently consists of a Senior Accounting Manager and Staff Accountant. The team is responsible for a myriad of finance, accounting and G&A functions which include revenue recognition, payroll, commission, performance bookkeeping, accounting, monthly close, financial statement analysis, performing budget versus actual variance analysis, tracking and controlling spend by different categories.



What you'll do:
  • Lead, scale and manage a global team (US & India entities) responsible for all Accounting, Tax, and Treasury activities.
  • Oversee all accounting and treasury operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, technical accounting, and financial reporting. 
  • Manage and review the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close to ensure efficiency and accuracy including producing consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP including ASC606. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP: Monitor, evaluate impact, and implement new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage audit, banking, payroll, tax, and insurance relationships.
  • Own and manage all entities' compliance and filings, including tax filings, local filings for various states, and all foreign entities' filings.
  • Provide leadership and vision for scale and growth and consider ways to drive efficiency and automation.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop the accounting team.
  • Create and implement short and long-term departmental objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Partner with the CFO, future auditors & other stakeholders to create financial records, controls, and processes that position Airbase for a successful IPO in the future.
  • Implement and improve upon key accounting software for scale.



What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accountancy, Finance, or related degree required.
  • CPA license required.
  • 10+ years of related experience required.
  • High growth SaaS company experience required.
  • Financial services experience a plus.
  • Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or nationally recognized accounting firm strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with demonstrated ASC 606/revenue recognition and consolidation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of non-GAAP industry metrics applicable to SaaS companies.
  • Past experience with Netsuite.
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of business systems to help build infrastructure needed for revenue recognition, integration with CRM for sales and revenue accounting, commission reporting, sales tax reporting, data reporting and analytics, etc.
  • Quick learner with the ability to multitask, work independently, think critically and problem solve in an ever-changing fast-paced environment.
  • Prioritize and balance multiple requests, projects, and deadlines. Experience with analytics tools and providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent and proven cross-functional collaboration skills.
