This is a permanent full-time position which can be remote (EST/EDT only) with access to our office in NY if desired. You must be authorized to work in the United States. Occasional travel may be required to our Dublin, Prague, New York, or Santa Monica offices, but this role is primarily remote.  All candidates may be asked to undergo a practical test to demonstrate their abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop responsive, accessible, and high-quality web applications using modern workflows and tools, while following Pond5 coding standards

• Work with the design team to convert layered design mockups and assets to valid PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript

• Work closely with the OPS and developments teams in configuring our infrastructure and developer tools (CI, Test Environments, etc.)

• Take part in code reviews

• Write unit and functional tests, helping ensure the highest quality possible in our systems

• Participate in the Agile development methodology

• Help define metrics for Pond5 that are useful and practical and look at how we can continuously improve what we do

• Assist with the resolution of day to day issues and queries relating to technology

• Think outside the box to devise ways to improve our systems

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years experience working in a commercial environment with hands on knowledge of WordPress and related technologies

• Strong grasp of the WordPress theme structure, template hierarchy, template tags, custom post meta, internationalization, and escaping/sanitization of data

• Extensive experience with Woocommerce or other ecommerce WordPress plugins

• Experience with JavaScript, React, and jQuery Knowledgeable of Git version control and branching strategies

• Ability to write semantic markupStrong CSS skillsExperience with some/all of our technology stack – PHP, JS, Python, Postgres, Redis, Machine Learning, DynamoDB an advantage

• Experience with agile software development methodologies

• Confident working closely with design and product teams

• Strong people skills - highly motivated self-starter

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills- comfortable engaging with management and being able to explain ideas to a variety of stakeholders

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science

• Excellent attention to detail, persistent to get things done right, highly organised and flexible and work well in collaboration with a dynamic team
