Mozilla Finance is responsible for strategic resource allocation and day-to-day financial operations as Mozilla scales its mission impact with new and existing products, technology and business models to better serve users and advance an agenda for a healthier internet.

We are seeking a talented Global Controller. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for accounting, statutory reporting, global tax, payroll operations, and the design and maintenance of adequate systems and controls. In this role, you will translate concepts, develop strategy, implement change, create programs responsive to the external environment and participate in cross-functional business and cultural development.

As Controller at Mozilla you will…
  • Perform strategic management and execution of critical controllership processes and provide technical and operational advice to the business teams and senior management
  • Act as the primary accounting and tax expert and leader, overseeing all accounting policies and procedures for Mozilla Corp
  • Provide accounting, finance and associated reporting leadership and expertise to high impact cross-functional projects. Direct the resolution of complex or unusual business challenges
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance internal controls over financial reporting as well as budget and forecast accuracy on a consolidated basis
  • Provide leadership and strategic insight on accounting and compliance in complex, global environments and direct global associates with respect to specific higher risk and judgmental areas of accounting and reporting
  • Provide direct oversight to the corporate accounting team including all general ledger, consolidation, technical accounting, tax, cash management and revenue recognition activities
  • Provide technical guidance across the business including communication / clarification of new laws and regulations related to GAAP, Tax, and Statutory reporting
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on a specific accounting policy or policies, providing business support on their interpretation and application
  • Manage external auditor relationships to facilitate completion of audit procedures in a timely and efficient manner
  • Lead, motivate and develop talent within the organization including, but not limited to, immediate direct reports by coaching, counseling, engaging, and evaluating associate performance
  • Identify opportunities and drive projects to improve business processes and business support
  • Establish, implement, manage and monitor critical accounting and reporting policies, processes and associated metrics
  • Work closely with Legal team, set standards and drive compliance across the entire organization
  • Direct the tax strategy, planning and operating responsibility for a business / P&L or a functional taxes group, IT / Tax systems, and State and Local Taxes, Federal Taxes
  • Minimize the business's tax burden, while complying fully with the laws of all relevant jurisdictions, and help drive growth
  • Provide overall M&A and other corporate development transaction support to optimize deal structure and risk mitigation. Coordinate and manage outside tax counsel to review and comment on tax opinions, etc
Your Professional Profile
  • Finance leadership experience in a complex multinational organization
  • Strong strategic business acumen, change management and continuous improvement champion
  • Subject matter expert in multiple verticals in the finance and accounting discipline
  • Experience in M&A deal structuring and ability to review complex financial models
  • Experience in legal entity structure design and optimization
  • Experience in statutory reporting and compliance in a multinational corporation
  • Ability to lead, manage, and work with a geographically distributed team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence through creating fellowship
  • Exceptional team leadership skills and ability to develop, engage, and evaluate team members
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor degree in accounting or finance with 15+ years' experience
  • Minimum of 3 years "Big firm" public accounting experience preferred
