Prenda is on a mission to empower learners. We help people run microschools, where small groups of kids meet in a home and own their education. The model is helping light a fire for kids like Mo and many more, and we are just getting started. Our company is obsessed with the mission of empowering learners, we earnestly strive to live our core values and we embrace servant leadership. We are currently a remote team of around 100 FTEs, and we have been investing in a strong culture and great employee experience. The Head of People will own that effort, in addition to providing strategic input on business decisions to the CEO and the other leaders in the company.

The current People team is small, meaning this role will start as a “player-coach” with direct responsibilities and some direct people management. As the company grows, our People Ops function will grow with it, meaning this role will evolve to be leading a growing team.

Requirements

  • Develop and lead our HR business practices and talent management processes, in alignment with our mission, vision and values
  • Design and implement our total rewards strategy - including compensation, equity, and traditional and non-traditional benefits, seeking input from benchmarks and market data
  • Work with our PEO to provide a seamless pay and benefits experience for employees
  • Create a best-in-class employee experience from recruiting to onboarding to offboarding and the touch points our employees have with the People Group in between
  • Design and oversee our approach to professional learning, including leadership training and leveling up overall employee skills and work practices
  • Support our efforts to ensure inclusion, equity, and diversity considerations are foundational across the company, including both how we operate as a team and how we create experiences for our customers

 

Skills & Experience

  • Experience leading the People function at a high-growth start-up
  • Experience building and strengthening culture (bonus points if done at a remote company) and driving talent management
  • Experience managing recruiting, onboarding & offboarding, choosing and administering benefits, making compensation decisions, & managing the performance review process
  • Able to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills, project management skills, and data analysis skills
