We are lucky to receive dozens of applications for jobs at Automattic every single day. We work hard to make candidates' experience fair, fun, and one to learn from. Our next goal is to make it even better, and scale the process to match Automattic's growth. This is where you come in.

What You'll Do:

Hiring Experience Wranglers will work on our Developer Experience team which focuses on everything from hiring developers to providing technical leadership within Automattic. In this role, you will help coordinate our recruitment efforts with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion to find developers who match our requirements. Beyond recruiting, this work will involve managing our end-to-end process for hiring software developers to make sure every candidate in every stage has the best experience possible. You will also work closely with the developers involved in hiring to continually improve our processes. We want Automatticians in this position to be the ultimate candidate experience advocates, ensuring candidates think fondly of the time they spent in the hiring process with Automattic, even if we didn't end up hiring them. As a Hiring Experience Wrangler, you should be highly skilled in project management and care deeply about building a diverse and inclusive workforce.

What You Have:
  • Strong project management skills and a love for organization, including documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting senior developers.
  • A consistent track record of implementing and developing best practises for diversity in hiring processes.
  • Ability to work across teams to manage work to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly written communication skills.
  • A problem solving mindset and a track record for getting results.
  • Deep empathy for candidates and colleagues.
Bonus points for leadership experience, technical background, experience working on diversity & inclusion projects, and coordinating teams remotely.

We're serious about growing diversity in the tech industry. We want to build Automattic as an environment where people love their work and show respect and empathy to those with whom we interact. Diversity typically includes, but is not limited to, differences in race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, political and religious affiliation, socioeconomic background, cultural background, geographic location, disabilities and abilities, relationship status, veteran status, and age. To work on diversity means that we welcome these differences, and strive to increase the visibility of traditionally underrepresented groups.
