System1 is a large Internet company with many content sites, including leading how-to site HowStuffWorks.com. We are currently looking for freelance image editors to choose engaging images that complements our content and edit them to our specifications.

This is a freelance image editing role, with the potential for it to be an ongoing project. The ideal candidate enjoys creating entertaining and engaging multimedia on topics ranging from pop culture to animals to automotive. They must understand what images work well in digital content. They also possess great attention to detail and can reliably meet strict deadlines. To participate in this ongoing project, the candidate will need to use our proprietary CMS and create an account on a separate platform for payment processing.

The Role You Will Have

• Select relevant images to associate with previously written content, using approved sources
• Manipulate images to meet our editorial, quality and CMS standards
• Coordinate with content managers on all assignments, appropriately documenting all sourced images
• Ensure a high level of quality, consistency, and accuracy across all images
• Create and design original images from scratch as required by content needs
• Operate efficiently by following all image guidelines while delivering work on time

What You Will Bring

• Fluency with Photoshop or equivalent image editing software
• Strong familiarity working with a CMS
• Experience working with stock image services and images in the public domain
• Possess strong sense of visual aesthetics, editorial perspective, and attention to detail
• Proven skills in image search and curation
• Comfortable communicating primarily through Slack and email
• Familiarity with fair use and copyright best practices and ability to follow strict image guidelines.
• Experience with Google Docs and invoicing for payment
• Ability to effectively time manage while maintaining a high level of quality of work
• A reliable computer, Photoshop or equivalent, and a stable internet connection
