Japanese Bilingual Project Manager

Hi, we’ve a company that works in the Anime space, providing anime products to western countries. We’re looking for a part time project manager who is fluent in both English and Japanese. Your main role will be a liaison between the English-speaking marketing/product management team and the Japanese-speaking anime artists.
 
 
Here are some of the things you'll be doing:
 
  • Managing a small team of Japanese artists, and ensuring that they’re tasked with creating what our customers want, and that they meet deadlines (which means that you will also be doing the below)
  • Gaining a thorough understanding of our customers so that you can accurately communicate to the artists what kind of art they want to see
  • Gaining a thorough knowledge of the most popular anime titles for our customers 

You must:
 
  • Be fluent in Japanese and English
  • Have project management experience
  • Have 2+ years of experience of working remotely 
  • Have experience with Asana, or be ready to become immediately familiar with Asana
  • Be extremely communicative and responsive. Everything is time-dependent, so you need to respond right away
  • Be ready to gain a thorough knowledge of anime titles, characters, references, and inside jokes
  • Be okay with working with nude art 

Here are some of the tools you'll be using and should be familiar with already or learn really fast:
 
  • Asana
  • Airtable
  • Typeform
  • Cloud storage platforms (Mega, Box) 

What we don't do:
 
  • We don't micromanage
  • We don't waste your or our time with “company culture”
  • We don't use slack, much less waste time in it. How awesome is that?! Really freaking awesome.
  • We don't make you physically show up anywhere or to anything, ever. 👊
  • We don’t really do meetings, so you’re going to need to be very good at taking the initiative and getting stuff done with minimal input. 

That means that you:
 
  • Must be incredibly self-motivated and really eager to create (and prove) your ROI
  • Must be very communicative in Asana
  • Will work closely with the rest of the digital marketing team, especially graphic designers and a front end designer
  • Have to be stoked about working in a position that requires you to perform and rewards you for it
  • Shouldn't care about fluff (think: anything done by a Silicon Valley startup...) and should care about ROI
