We offer localization services for websites, mobile apps, and software, and provide a full set of services around the development of wearable technologies. In particular, speech data collection, functional testing, usability testing, user trials, semantic analysis and more, in North America and around the world.

We are now looking for a localization project manager to join our team (remotely or in Vancouver).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage localization projects from beginning to end, working closely with language specialists, localization engineers, terminologists, product management and development, internal business partners and external vendors and other departments
  • Ensure deliveries meet deadlines, are on budget, and meet release quality criteria
  • Develop project plans and workflows, manage time, budget, resources and quality control
  • Follow analysis of client specific localization software application requirements, create and manages internal version of localization project plans, and provide project specific education and coaching to Localization staff (and sometimes to customers, and their 3rd party suppliers)
  • Create and control localization project budgets, track and control costs, ensure timely issuance of purchase orders and invoices
  • Analyze project risks, and define/execute mitigation plans as needed
  • Identify the root cause of project issues and define/execute corrective/preventative action plans
  • Set clear expectations with customers, team members, and suppliers. Be 100% accountable, and hold others accountable as well for their project obligations.
  • Assign, monitor and measure project team members’ work. Manage team’s compliance with standards, practices
  • Lead project/client/business partner meetings and conference calls, including project kick-off, bug scrubs, troubleshooting meetings, etc. Run post-mortems when applicable, while ensuring meetings are recorded and minutes distributed. Follow up and manage the delivery of agreed upon action items
  • Present regular reports to client, corporate office and peers on progress and forecast of project team’s work status, escalating issues and evaluating needed support
  • Maximize utilization of team, preparing alternative work for periods without projects and/or billable work for direct reports
  • Continuously monitor how Globalme practices stack up against industry standards, and ensure that we are on the leading edge with both tools and processes
  • Understand the localization business landscape, and help the Account Manager and Globalme management grow our business
  • Identify areas for self-improvement and learning, as well as opportunities for other team members to grow and learn
  • Provide input to management on company policies and direction
  • Assist the Localization Manager and Account Manager as needed, with internal and external (customer facing) initiatives
  • Travel, domestic and international, as needed to meet with customers
  • Oversee junior team members: their work quality, on the job training, provide ongoing feedback, monitor timesheets, approve vacation and holidays

REQUIREMENTS

You are:

  • Experienced – You have a minimum of 4 years of experience directly related to project management (preferably in the localization industry)
  • Experience in independently managing localization of various collateral: websites, software, eLearning, subtitles, InDesign, wearable devices
  • Good communicator in written and spoken English – you are able to clearly present the localization life-cycle to clients
  • Ability to successfully manage team – you feel comfortable in providing feedback in a constructive manner and address concerns
  • Able to successfully lead projects or individual tasks to completion without supervision
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Able and equipped with necessary skills to attend discovery meetings clients and gather all necessary information that is needed to successfully complete the project
  • A born leader – you have strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Familiar with project management principles – you have proven abilities in project planning, resource and risk management
  • Problem-solver – you are able to foresee potential problems ahead of time. You figure out problems that rarely have textbook solutions. “Let me figure this out” is a sentence you use often.
  • Focused on quality work – you pay attention to details and can’t stand sloppy work
  • Able to make logical decisions in ambiguous environments
  • A strong team player in a multi-language/multi-cultural environment
  • Interested in continuing learning and identifying new technologies and new tools
  • Proficient in translation memory tools (Trados, SDLX, GlobalSight)
  • Have experience with Globalization Management Systems, such as SDL TMS
  • Able to focus on process improvements by documenting best practice
  • Able to effectively train others by delivering powerful presentations
  • Able to identify crucial actions for the health of the department or team
  • Able to delegate work based on the good judgment of the most appropriate resources and tools.
  • Open to receiving feedback – you focus on solutions and improvements rather than finding excuses why something doesn’t work
  • Positive – you have a “nothing is impossible attitude”. You believe that everything can be done.

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (localization, business, linguistics, or with equivalent experience)
  • Solid in-depth knowledge of internationalization and localization
  • Fluency in non-English language
  • Ability to create macros or other task automations a big plus
  • Advanced Excel skills a big plus (formulas, pivot tables, macros, lookup tables, etc.)
