AWI has recently launched our first eCommerce site which is a cutting-edge, end-to-end platform that connects facility managers, business owners and consumers with ceiling solutions. We are building a team to own, manage and grow this platform as we work to transform the building products buying experience.

As our Manager of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for aligning the business and technology strategy to facilitate the success of this ecommerce startup.

**What you'll be doing:**

- Set the technical vision and build the technical product roadmap to scale a word class product and services ecommerce experience; including defining long-term goals and strategies
- Define technical requirements and systems architecture with clarity on feasibility, time, cost, and impact
- Set buy/build strategy and negotiate with vendors to follow through on the strategy
- Define best practices around coding methodologies, software development, and quality assurance
- Attract and retain a team of world-class engineers
- Establish a high performing, one-team engineering culture emphasizing creativity, growth, and development
- Ensure all internal processes and external services comply with security and privacy regulations
- Define and implement a consistent and repeatable process for quality assurance across all areas of organization and product build
- Identify opportunities and challenges in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of technological advancements and innovation to mitigate impediments and cultivate success


**What will make you successful:**

- 8+ years architecting & building ecommerce experiences from pre-launch through maturity
- Startup experience in key engineering leadership positions at high-growth technology companies
- Experience scaling products, overseeing their build from MVP to mass scale
- Hands-on skills in one or more modern programming languages (Nodejs, Typescript and Ruby preferred)
- Experience with building service based architecture including use of micro services frameworks
- Deep experience of application security and experience with PCI and regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of DevOps and cloud infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Very thorough analytical and problem-solving skills - including requirements analysis, debugging and risk assessment


**Preferred experience:**

- Experience in software development using Shopify
- SAP integration experience
- Demonstrates creativity with a keen focus on innovative. Ability to think outside of the box and is intellectually curious
- Knowledge of selling processes and strategies to capitalize on opportunities.
- Strong communication skills and reports pertinent information at key milestones through clear, concise oral and written communication.
