At Elastic, we have a simple goal: to solve the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the company behind the popular open source projects — Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats — we help people around the world do great things with their data. From stock quotes to Twitter streams, Apache logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. We unite Elasticians across 34 countries (and counting!), 18 timezones and 30 different languages into one coherent team, while the broader community spans across over 100 countries.

We are actively looking for a marketing professional with a strong background in the State, Local and Education (SLED) market to assist the marketing director for the U.S. public sector team in planning and executing a marketing strategy to support this growing market. Over the past several years, Elastic has expanded its footprint in SLED to local governments City of Portland and higher education institutions like Indiana University. In this role, you will wake up each morning eager to build, drive, plan, and implement extraordinary programs for marketing, targeting prospects and existing customers, as well as contribute to the success of the sales team's pipeline goals. It will involve daily interaction with the SLED sales team, require an understanding of the buying behavior in this industry specific market and how it maps into the open source model and the Elastic go-to-market to build programs to identify and engage with users of Elasticsearch and the ELK Stack. A strong working knowledge of the partner ecosystem and an understanding of the role that third parties play in the marketing strategy. You'll be collaborating with teams across multiple different departments and do all of this while hosting and running your programs to precision (travel would be 30%).

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Administrative: maintain and manage marketing calendar, regional budget, wiki, monitor speaking opportunities, research/execute third-party conferences and collect information for relevant programs across the regions to determine adjustments and improvements.
  • Programs: Help drive demand creation and lead generation activity in developing qualified sales leads and creating brand awareness activities. Assist in sourcing suitable venues for regional marketing programs and lead program coordination of campaigns within region. Craft and execute targeted regional marketing programs to meet marketing goals, including but not limited to field events, account based marketing, (potential) trade-shows, Elastic{ON} and Elastic{ON} Tour events, etc. Partner and work closely with sales teams to craft account-level marketing plans for their top strategic accounts.
  • Digital:Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns to include account based marketing, webinars and virtual programs for top verticals within SLED - i.e. higher education.
  • Collateral & Promotional materials: Work with Product Marketing to ensure distribution of (sometimes printed) materials such as case studies, datasheets, or give-aways to our local sales teams or whenever needed for campaigns.
  • Logistics: Place and manage shipments via our warehouse prior to execution of regional program. Coordinate logistics, speakers, agendas, and staff for Elastic programs.
  • Customer/User Relation: Assist and contribute to building strong user/customer relationships to help create reference stories for the Customer Experience team that can be shared within the wider community.
  • Partners: Support and partner with local partner initiatives such as smaller seminars, lunch & learns, or programs.
What You Bring Along:

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in marketing, regional or field with a focus on the SLED market, ideally in open source
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Highly organized and an eye for detail. Things move quickly here but there are always notes, spreadsheets, and lists
  • Team player with ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup and willing to do more than expected
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 30% in support of programs and company meetings
  • Creative - able to think of new programs that can scale to many users
  • You have a 'let's-do-this' attitude and are excited to drive projects to completion
Additional Information:

We're looking to hire team members invested in realizing the goal of making real-time data exploration easy and available to anyone. As a distributed company, we believe that diversity drives our vibe! Whether you're looking to launch a new career or grow an existing one, Elastic is the type of company where you can balance great work with great life.
  • Competitive pay based on the work you do here and not your previous salary
  • Stock options
  • Global minimum of 16 weeks of paid parental leave (moms & dads)
  • Generous vacation time and one week of volunteer time off
  • Your age is only a number. It doesn't matter if you're just out of college or your children are; we need you for what you can do.
