Red Hat's Public Sector Consulting team is looking for a Middleware Consultant to join us. In this role you will guide the adoption of Red Hat's solutions throughout our federal enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. Through a series of both in-person and remote interactions, you will win the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of our solutions. You'll play a critical role in bringing together Red Hat's product business, product engineering, support, professional services, and sales teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. You'll serve as a customer advocate with these organizations, helping to architect the right solutions and ensuring that these solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. As a Middleware Consultant, you'll need to have a thorough working knowledge of and practical experience with JEE and Spring-based application development and middleware application architectures and their supporting infrastructures. You'll also need to be familiar with DevOps, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), and cloud-native development. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

• Become a respected Red Hat’s subject matter expert at the customer site, addressing customer technical, development, and strategic IT requirements
• Use your critical thinking skills to tackle tough problems in an innovative way
• Help define and manage software specification, design, testing, and deployment of open source solutions
• Serve as a trusted advisor at the customer site and assist the project or technical managers in setting and delivering on expectations
• Maintain a detailed understanding of industry practices and thorough project experience and training
• Respond to incidents, escalations, and exceptions in a professional manner

• 3+ years of experience working with Java
• Experience with standard Java tools like Maven and Git
• Experience building automated testing for Java based applications
• Experience working directly with enterprise stakeholders on development projects
• Experience with Web Services design, testing, and implementation
• Ability to work with others on an agile scrum development team
• Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and break-fix skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Top Secret clearance

The following are considered a plus:

• Experience working with application platforms like IBM WebLogic, Oracle WebSphere, or Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP)
• Experience working on JEE-based enterprise applications
• Experience with Jenkins and other CI tooling
• Experience with Red Hat Fuse or Apache Camel
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift
• Experience with Spring or Spring Boot
• Experience providing technical leadership to a small team
• Experience architecting and designing large-scale workable solutions
• Experience with additional languages like Node.js or C#
• Department of Homeland Security (DHS) clearance or Entry On Duty (EOD) suitability
