Who we are.

We are a small and passionate team working to eliminate inefficiency and financial waste in the world of healthcare staffing. We're transparent. We're nimble. We're always learning. And we're having a ton of fun along the way.

Why we're here.

Kamana was born out of the personal frustration one of our founders experienced throughout his nursing career. Having spent more than a decade working in dozens of hospitals across the country, John witnessed first-hand how repetitive processes and inefficient technology results in missed opportunities and financial waste for him and his employers.

What we do.

We build user-centric, feedback-driven software for the healthcare staffing industry. Currently focused on travel nursing and allied health, we enable healthcare workers to manage their credentials and careers from a single place, and staffing agencies to hire and collaborate with the workforce far more efficiently.

Who you are.

You consider an organization's greatest asset to be the people who are a part of it. Your greatest enjoyment at work comes from helping people grow and succeed in their career. You are pragmatic, yet empathic. You are excellent with people.

You enjoy solving new problems on a daily basis. You’re happiest when you are working on a variety of different projects and are comfortable managing changing priorities. You have a growth mindset, are naturally curious, and seek continuous learning in everything you do.

What you'll do.

Healthcare professionals are busy, always on the go, and fatigued from the industry norm of hard-to-use tech that rarely works from their phone. An employer's success in healthcare staffing often comes down to who can move great candidates the fastest through the hiring flow.

We are passionate about bringing user-centric technology to this industry to solve these challenges, and we firmly believe that the success of our users begins with the happiness and success of the people who craft, grow, and support the user journey on the Kamana platform.

Over the past twelve months the Kamana team has grown from three to thirteen full-time employees who have helped more than 55,000 healthcare professionals and hundreds of healthcare employers more efficiently navigate the world of healthcare staffing.

As a People & Culture Manager at Kamana, and the first People & Culture hire at Kamana, you will play an instrumental role in helping us even more rapidly scale the team and culture over the next 12-24 months. Your work will enable us to sustainably grow Kamana to help millions of heathcare pros & thousands of employers nationwide, becoming the new standard in how healthcare staffing operates. To accomplish this, you'll do things like:

  • gain a deep understanding of the founding principles and vision of the company, then help ensure these principles are upheld as contributions from our team members, users, and partners continually shape the company culture
  • help us build diverse and inclusive candidate pipelines through creative sourcing channels, and maintain an equitable sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding process
  • support and iterate upon all aspects of new employee onboarding, ensuring an enjoyable, high quality and highly effective onboarding experience for all new employees
  • manage overall people and company logistics, ranging from things like planning in-person meetups, to being the subject matter expert for how our tools and systems operate
  • create, implement, and own employee engagement programs and retention strategies

While typical HR functions will be an occasional aspect of this role, we are uniquely positioned with a strong Human Resources team that spans across Kamana and our partner organization (see Triage + Kamana). This team will support your role via handling of traditional HR functions such as payroll & benefits administration, employment compliance, managing HR systems, etc.

Requirements

What you've done before.

You have played a major role in helping a fully remote organization scale its team, product, and culture. In doing so, you were involved with all aspects of the hiring and onboarding process.

You have demonstrated experience crafting and implementing employee engagement and retention strategies. You have experience planning and managing company events.

During this time you have become passionate about building strong and diverse company culture that is rooted in transparency and trust. You have developed a love of thinking critically and have the skills to clearly communicate resolutions in a friendly and approachable way.

Experimentation is frequent at Kamana. Comfortability with being uncomfortable is a must.

It'd be cool if you've done this.

Having been on the ground floor of a fast growing software startup, with a desire to repeat this journey, will set you apart from other candidates. Experience managing a People/HR team for a company distributed across multiple time zones will help get you to the top of the list. A clinical background and/or knowledge of the healthcare staffing industry would be amazing, but is in no way required.

Benefits

How we work.

Kamana is a remote-first team. We leverage software such as Asana, Slack, and Geekbot to collaborate effectively across time zones, and work however we are the happiest and most productive.

You can typically find us spread between places like Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Washington, and California. Prior to COVID-times we met up on occasion for face-to-face collaboration. We'll resume this in a post COVID-19 vaccine era when the world comfortably allows it.

We often work 9 to 5 but appreciate the need for flexibility and trust each other to find a schedule that fits our lives best. On occasion you’ll find us burning the midnight oil. But it’s more because we want to, not because we have to.

Compensation & benefits.

We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package that spans medical, financial, and quality of life benefits. Think medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K with company match, a flexible schedule and paid time off policy, paid vacations, the tools you'll need to be successful, and the flexibility you'll need to put your health and family first.
