Muck Rack is looking for a Product Manager to join our fast-growing tech startup based in New York with teammates working remotely across the world. Our mission is to make journalists, PR pros and marketers more successful. We're building a team made of different perspectives and experiences — that's how we'll create a product that's reflective of our users around the world.

Journalists use Muck Rack to build and manage portfolios, track the reach of stories, find career opportunities and keep up with industry news. PR pros and companies use Muck Rack to find and contact the most relevant journalists for their stories, monitor what’s being said about their company or competitors, track the success of their media campaigns and report on their success.

About the position

As a Product Manager, you’ll immediately contribute to Muck Rack’s vision, roadmap and strategy. You’ll collaborate with product stakeholders, engineers, designers and business teams while managing research, specifications, development, testing and launching features.

You’ll join a product team obsessed with launching features. We aren’t scrum, we aren’t waterfall, we aren’t agile. We blend the best components of those strategies, collaborate with our teammates, create wireframes to communicate feature ideas, shape projects to launch products that delight our users around the world, evolve in the ever-changing media landscape and directly contribute to the growth of our bootstrapped startup.

We rely on Trello, Github, Slack, Intercom, Zapier, Productboard and a host of other project management and analytics tools, but you’ll help optimize the product development process by contributing to systems and processes that will help launch new, innovative, data-driven products and improvements on Muck Rack.

Responsibilities include

  • Creating, managing and delivering feature plans, roadmaps, project plans and specifications.
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams including engineering, customer success, marketing, design to build growth strategies and manage complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Leading and participating in all stages of product development including research, project planning, product development organization, QA testing and launching features.
  • Analyzing and monitoring qualitative and quantitative data on Muck Rack usage to develop world-class user experiences.
  • Presenting findings and preparing strategy recommendations to product stakeholders.
  • Working closely with internal teams, customers and partners.

About you

  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and get excited about launching new products.
  • You have 3-6 years of product management experience, preferably with software-as-a-service products.
  • You have successfully shipped products, especially with significant reporting functionality, CRM capabilities, a reliance on machine learning or that use technologies like Elasticsearch, Celery (or other task queues) and natural language processing.
  • You can collaborate with and manage a mix of in-office and remote teams of engineers, designers and business-facing teams.
  • You are comfortable creating wireframes on-the-fly to communicate your ideas to designers, engineers and business-facing teammates.
  • You have a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • You have an understanding of software-as-a-service, product metrics and their relation to business metrics.
  • You are an excellent, articulate communicator (both written and verbal) capable of collaborating with a distributed product, design and engineering team.
  • You strive for continuous improvement, empowerment, transparency and leadership.
  • You love technology, software and are comfortable quickly learning new tools.
  • You creatively connect customer feedback to product development.
  • You want to move quickly and grow in a fast-paced environment.
