The Red Hat Accounting team is looking for a Project Accountant to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will assist with both month-end accounting and the day-to-day management of financial operations for our North America (NA) Services team. You'll also work with our global project accounting team’s subject matter expert on future deployments and training for our Oracle Project Accounting (PA) module. This is a role with global visibility in a fast-paced and challenging environment, providing you with an opportunity to work on strategic activities. • Support the daily financial operations for the NA Services team by interacting with regional service managers, project managers, and consultants
• Provide an ongoing daily support to project accounting teams by responding to questions, providing best practices, and troubleshooting issues
• Prepare monthly journal entries, customer invoices, and account reconciliations; perform analyses, resolve issues, and reconcile items in the general ledger and revenue management system, including revenue, deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and accrued expenses
• Complete monthly and quarterly financial close activities
• Support regional finance teams with design, testing, and deployment for special projects as needed

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience with a major enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package
• Advanced understanding of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with ASC 606 revenue standard
• Highly motivated with good creative problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment under deadline pressure
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a record of working with diverse internal and external groups in the field of finance, legal, sales, operations, senior management, etc.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment and take on new challenges as they arise

The following are considered a plus:

• Experience with Oracle ERP
• Experience working as a project accountant in any industry
• Bachelor's degree in accounting
