Role Description
The position offers experienced Project Managers the opportunity to lead the analysis, planning, and execution of all primary administrative functions for both Development and Managed Services projects. Candidates with prior experience in handling offshore delivery teams in the design, development, and testing phases is a huge advantage. Mandatory to the role is managing the project parameters of budget, scope, and schedule, plus people management to cultivate a motivating and productive working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the management of large and/or multiple small offshore delivery projects, with responsibility of ensuring that UGBU Global Delivery Center meet all requirements in the delivery of a quality application to the Customer within agreed time and cost plans
  • Project Planning
o Work with the Regional Project Manager to create a budget and project plan for the Technical Design, Development, Testing, and Support effort. Builds realistic time estimates, work plans and schedules that reflect budget, project milestones and staffing mix.
o Structures projects/activities to enable reasonable workload and work/life balance
o Plan and implement all actions required to deploy the application, both technically and functionally
  • Project Management
o Oversee and manage day-to-day activities of an offshore project team or multiple offshore project teams
o Coordinate with the Portfolio Manager to ensure that project team members are shared across projects when appropriate
o Ensure that changes in scope or schedule are justified, covered financially and agreed to by appropriate decision makers
o Monitor key project metrics such as billable utilization, defect statistics, actuals vs estimates variances.
o Support Portfolio Manager in project escalations
  • Quality Management
o Familiarize the team with the customer needs, specifications, design targets, the development process, design standards, techniques and tools to support task performance
o Assure that the team addresses all relevant issues within the specifications and various standards
o Ensure that processes are in place to deliver high quality service
  • Risk and Issue Management
o Anticipate, report, and address potential issues to minimize project impact
o Track and report on project risks with corresponding contingencies and priorities
  • Project Communications
o Communicate team status, task accomplishment, and direction to regional project managers, portfolio managers, and practice managers
o Coordinates meetings with the Customer, Regional project manager, Offshore leaders and/or and Portfolio managers to discuss project impediments, needed resources or issues/delays in completing the task
o Provide status reporting of team activities against the program plan or schedule
o Keep the Project Key Stakeholders informed of task accomplishment, issues and status
o Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve interface and integration issues with other teams
o Escalate issues which cannot be resolved by the team
o Provide guidance to the team based on management direction
  • Staff Management
o Coach and mentor team members
o Manage staff performance to obtain desired performance level
o Provide performance feedback during appraisal period
  • Share responsibility in promoting learning and transfer of knowledge within the UGBU organization.
Requirements
  • University degree in IT, Computer Science or any of its equivalents
  • Has subject matter knowledge of relevant implementation responsibility
  • At least 12 years consulting or industry experience
  • At least 7 years experience in consulting services, as Project Manager, preferably in a multi-national organization
  • Proven customer facing experience within professional service organizations
  • Proven project management experience in IT project delivery
  • Experience in remote development methodology
  • Experience in mentoring other managers and senior staff
  • Possess strong planning capabilities, communications skills, presentation skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively influence internal team members and customer stakeholders through consensus building and ability to get results through others, is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with team members and clients
  • Ability to work in a driven team environment

A fully competent project management professional who has a broad understanding of solutions and industry best practices. This first-level project management position provides consistent creative and high quality solution leadership ensuring project quality and timely delivery within budget to the customer's satisfaction.

Employs independent judgment in guiding moderately complex activities involved in the successful implementation of an integrated business solution, ensuring project quality and timely delivery within budget to the customer's satisfaction. Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle's solution meets the customer's objectives by combining industry best practices and product knowledge. Effectively applies Oracle's methodologies, policies, and procedures while adhering to contractual obligations, thereby minimizing Oracle's risk and exposure. As a project lead, assists project team with aspects of their roles. Effectively influences decisions at the management level of customer organizations. Ensures deliverables are acceptable and works closely with the customer to understand and manage project expectations. Supports business development efforts by pursuing new opportunities and extensions. Collaborates with the consulting sales team by providing domain credibility. Manages the scope of small projects and sub-projects.

6-8 years of experience relevant to this position including 0-5 years of project management experience. Demonstrated ability to follow solid project management principles. Comfortable working in a matrix management environment. Strong communication skills to deal with internal stakeholders, customers, and vendors. Product, technology or industry expertise relevant to the portfolio focus. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Ability to travel as needed.
