The Red Hat Quality Engineering team is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Networking team in Beijing, China. In this role, you will search for, analyze, report, and verify bug fixes in the Red Hat nm-state and NetworkManager projects. You'll create test plans and research new features. You’ll also perform acceptance, function, regression, integration, and performance testing on Red Hat’s solutions. As a Quality Engineer, you'll oversee all aspects of quality for solutions that involve layered offerings like Red Hat Virtualization, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, etc. as it relates to nm-state and NetworkManager projects, including developing new automated tests. As a Quality Engineer, you’ll be the last person with access to new features and services prior to their public release.


  • Investigate networking functions and features
  • Analyze, report, and track defects
  • Closely collaborate with developers to investigate and debug issues
  • Design and develop test plans, new tests, and test automation in various environments; run tests, analyze and summarize the testing results
  • Continuously improve existing test cases according to agreed quality and speed requirements
  • Analyze the source code and suggest appropriate test strategies for the solutions
  • Document bugs and discuss their impact on customers with developers and technical support

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in software testing and development or a related role
  • 2+ years of experience scripting in Bash or Perl
  • Familiar with Python or C
  • Knowledge of networking concepts like IP, TCP, UDP, Bridge, VLAN, DHCP, DNS etc.
  • Knowledge of Git and continuous integration (CI) concepts
  • Knowledge of NetworkManager is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Linux operating system and kernel networking
  • Expertise in defining and analyzing metrics and managing technical debt
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
