The Finance team at Marley Spoon is growing, with a mission to provide business partnership using best-in class financial data and analysis. Our aim is to help the company make the right, fact-based decisions to move the business forward. As part of this effort, we are now looking for an exceptional (Senior) Global Accounting Process Manager!

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate is an analytical detail-oriented individual who will manage our accounting business processes and finance-related systems (ERPs/Applications) globally. You will be responsible for driving financial reporting system improvements, implementation, and integration of ERPs (if necessary), and new applications within the finance team. Also, you will train and coach the accounting team members in new business processes and finance-related systems (ERPs/Applications). The ideal candidate will serve as the right hand to the Global Head of Accounting Operations in all accounting business processes and finance related systems (ERPs/Applications) matters.

What you will do:

This is a manager role that will support all areas of the business and senior leadership at a Group Level, helping bridge the gap between finance and digital. Expected tasks will include:

• Act as the Finance team’s go-to person for all finance-related systems (ERPs/Applications) issues
• Act as right-hand to the Group Head of Accounting Operations in managing Marley Spoon’s Accounting Business Processes (A/P, A/R, Inventory, Fixed Assets (Intangible Assets and PP&E), VAT, and bank transactions) across three regions
• Engage with cross-functional stakeholders, at the central and global levels
• Continuously evaluate Microsoft Business Central’s (BC) and finance-related systems’ performance and identify improvement potential
• Keep up-to-date on technological developments in the area of finance-related systems in order to drive best practice implementation standards and strategies
• Build innovation and enhancements on our current Accounting Business Processes and finance related systems (ERPs/Applications) together with the Digital and ERP teams
• Provide regular and extensive training to the accounting team members, including on new External Applications and Financial Reporting System enhancements
• Supervise (in partnership with Local Sr. Accountants) Jr. Accountants and A/P Officers and review accounting procedures performed, assisting with technical knowledge if required
• Translate data requirements and analyses for the Controllership, FP&A, Audit and Reporting and Treasury teams into digital solutions and efficiencies
• Develop, implement and maintain internal standards, processes and routines based on group requirements and introduce new processes/improvements as deemed appropriate
• Participate on a quarterly basis in physical inventory counts if necessary
• Marley Spoon is growing significantly across three regions and as such brings with it a fair amount of complexity:
• ~EUR 300m Global Turnover
• 1,800 FTEs
• Seven fulfillment centers in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth (Australia), California, New Jersey, and Texas (United States) and in the Netherlands (Europe)
• One Shared Service Center in Lisbon, Portugal
• Three brands (Marley Spoon, Dinnerly, and Bezzie)
• Matriced functions

Who you will work with:

You will interact with the global Marley Spoon finance team, especially the centralized Accounting, Audit and Reporting, and Treasury functions based in Berlin, Germany. Additionally, you will work side-by-side with our local finance teams (Accounting, FP&A, and Controllership), based in Sydney and New York, ranging from daily accounting business processes to finance-related systems (ERPs/Applications) strategy, helping bridge the gap between finance and digital.

Requirements

• A passionate ERP and Accounting professional with strong ERP (Microsoft Business Central preferred) skills
• 7+ years of relevant work experience in Finance, Accounting and/or Controllership functions
• Experience in consumer products/manufacturing environments preferred
• Familiarity with implementing and managing finance-related systems (ERPs/Applications) in a Group-level environment
• Understanding of internal control framework and its effects on finance-related systems (ERPs/Applications) architecture
• Previous exposure to managing, coaching, and training an accounting team in new accounting business processes as well as new finance-related systems (ERPs/Applications)
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment where change is constant
• Exceptional analytical skills and clear communication style
• Eye for detail while being able to take a step back and understand the bigger picture in the financial reporting process
• Proactive, solution-oriented problem solver
• Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organisation, including individuals outside of the finance function, across multiple time zones
• VAT experience preferred (US Sales and Use Tax and Australian GST is a plus)
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Finance/Accounting required, CPA and/or ACCA preferred
• Public Accounting experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Business Central (BC)/SAP/Oracle preferred (Microsoft BC is a plus)
