If the idea of jumping into the trenches with an exceptional team that cares deeply about our work and the outcomes of students excites you, we would like to hear from you!

As our first QA Engineer, you will play a critical role in the testing of software that powers TutorMe. Reporting directly to the CTO, we are looking for your expertise to shape how QA works within an agile and collaborative company. The role is 100% remote.

  • Partner with the engineering team to understand project objectives, gather automation requirements, design automated tests, troubleshoot issues, and implement scalable test automation solutions
  • Verify quality acceptance of web-based and mobile applications across multi-platform environments
  • Maintain updated knowledge of the development industry and any advancements in technology
  • Triage and debug issues reported by users, customer success, and internal teams
  • Work in and maintain a test framework for frontend and backend tests
  • Assist in ongoing process improvement efforts to ensure test planning, execution and reporting is effective and efficient
  • Help us pick new tools and decide on new processes that help improve how we do QA
  • Go beyond traditional QA and help deliver product launches via a streamlined, agile process

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience creating automated tests for web
  • Experience writing test cases and using test case management software
  • Experience with browser automation software (Selenium, Puppeteer) using TypeScript / Kotlin / Scala / C# / F# (or any other statically typed language)
  • Experience with the latest test tools for UI/UX, APIs, and crowd-sourced manual testing
  • Experience with real-time web: WebSockets / WebRTC
  • Experience working in VCS and CI/CD pipelines, and can address issues if something in the pipeline breaks
  • Comfortable using the command line
  • Must use macOS or Linux (sorry Windows fans)
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Obsession with finding and testing every possible edge case
  • A quick learner, a self-starter, able to work independently, and willing (and able) to handle the pressures of an increasing level of responsibility

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Top-notch health, dental and vision insurance
  • 401k matching
  • Generous vacation and holidays
  • All the equipment you need to get the job done
  • 10 hours of free online tutoring each year
  • Opportunity to be a key player at a company that's quickly redefining the boundaries of on-demand academic support
