General: Gun.io has seen an increase in demand for Senior WordPress Developers! This is a great opportunity if you’re a professional freelancer who wants to get ahead of your project pipeline for when your current project is completed. Geography: Open to candidates who live and work in United States time zones (where the majority of our clients are located). We do have clients in other areas of the world, so please apply if you think you’re an excellent fit. Work Schedule: 20 hours per week, varies. Typically, Gun.io’s clients are looking for 20 to 40 hours per week depending on their project needs and deadlines. Start & Duration: Start as soon as you’re ready and when there’s a good project fit for your skillset. What’s the process? In keeping with our promise to only provide elite Professional Freelancers, Gun.io’s vetting process is stringent and includes: a credential check, three interviews, and live reference checks. However, you will only need to complete that vetting process for your first Gun.io project. Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to seamlessly move on and off freelance projects. Candidates who pass Gun.io’s internal vetting will be given an opportunity to directly engage and interview with Gun.io’s clients. What starts as a short project always has the opportunity to grow if we perform with excellence. Must-have experience: Expert proficiency with WordPress, HTML, and CSS (of course!). Please include links to a few projects you’ve worked on or your portfolio site in the application. Expert proficiency with PHP and Javascript. Production experience with multiple languages is a plus. A deep understanding of the Web including HTTP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Proven ability to effectively convert a custom designed layout into a WordPress theme Custom WordPress website development and maintenance Proven ability to develop custom WordPress plugins General bug & issue fixes API Integrations with PHP Competent with revision control systems (Git) Comfortable with server administration for popular hosting (AWS, WPengine, Rackspace, etc.) You’re comfortable with client-facing roles Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. If you know additional languages, let us know. Nice-to-have experience: Very strong preference for those who have contributed to WordPress core, Woocommerce, or popular WordPress plugins – if you have, be sure to let us know!
