Salesforce Commerce Cloud is in search of an Architectwho can lead the transition of our SaaS eCommerce platform into the Public Cloud. As an Architect at Commerce Cloud, you will lead strategic technology initiatives, work with product managers, other architects, engineers, SME's and the broader Salesforce organization to understand the business requirements of Commerce Cloud and proposed solutions. You will also assess risk and make recommendations to ensure that business needs are met in a timely manner with the highest level of trust. You will be responsible for setting the long term architectural vision for Commerce Cloud and must be consultative; engaging with internal experts in order to achieve goals in real-world scenarios.

It is a cross-functional leadership role that requires alignment building and communication with the entire engineering organization.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Drives alignment with the broader Salesforce Infrastructure and Product Engineering organizations
• Accountable for making recommendations for infrastructure to senior management in a large scale PaaS & SaaS environment
• Works in a consultative fashion with other organizations such as Product Management, Engineering, and Site Reliability
• Helps identify gaps in proposed architectures and recommends changes and enhancements
• Mentors teams via the establishment of a technical review board that produces best practices/patterns and performs design reviews
• Fosters improved communication, collaboration and alignment among teams inside and outside of the org
• Provides guidance and education for teams building solutions on public and private clouds
• Provides feedback and proposals to mitigate risks in designs in order to achieve business goals
• Drives research and case studies on leading edge Public Cloud and First Party topics
• Analyzes and provides feedback on product strategy
• Provides input into long-range platform requirements, best practices, and operational guidelines, with focus on continuous improvement of platform reliability and serviceability
• Ensures that we are continuously raising our standard of engineering excellence

Skills and Experience

• Experience developing and executing strategy to transition a SaaS platform from First Party into Public Cloud
• Experience with Kubernetes and Container orchestration
• Experience establishing processes and standards around infrastructure as code and deployment pipelines
• Experience working in an Agile SDLC
• Experience designing software using the twelve-factor app methodology and domain driven design
• GCP, AWS, or other public cloud experience
• Experience crafting organization-wide KPI's and OKR's
• Experience in domains with a strong culture of security and the necessary architectural considerations therein
• Ability to actively communicate, inspire, and motivate all levels of staff
• Experience driving / fostering a collaborative learning culture that constantly improves through retrospection
• Ability to think and act strategically and proactively
• Strong writing, presentation, influencing and leadership skills
• Expertise creating design artifacts that can be used for understanding, evangelization and execution
• Deep understanding of micro-services architecture and the attendant organizational patterns (and anti-patterns) that come with them
• Experience leading an organization's transition into a DevOps culture

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience in eCommerce and with eCommerce Platforms
• Experience with China Public Cloud providers
• Experience operating in a culture of service ownership in a public/private cloud environment
• Experience building products for other developers to consume

Education

• BS in related field and at least 10 years experience in the Information Technology arena, at least 3 years management or leadership experience in this field
• Experience as engineering leader: process, culture, mentoring
• Experience leading small teams
• SCRUM master or Product Owner knowledge a plus
