The Terraform Cloud Production Engineering team is part of the larger group of software engineers building the Terraform Cloud hosted service. 

Our platform is composed of a Rails application working in concert with several Go services. Our team leads efforts to ensure our platform is robust, secure, and performant for the mission-critical production workloads of our customers. 

We have a large footprint and a quickly-growing user base, and are looking to expand our team. We’re looking for our first senior software engineer to join our existing team of Site Reliability Engineers who manage our production infrastructure. 

This new role will spearhead our efforts to foster security and performance engineering for our platform. An ideal candidate will have a strong background building distributed systems and web platforms at scale, a principled approach to security (both code and infrastructure), and an interest in cross-functional work across security, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams.

• Partner with the Terraform Cloud platform engineers and SREs to identify, investigate, and remediate security concerns, performance bottlenecks, and production issues across our services
• Work closely with the HashiCorp security team to develop and deliver on a joint roadmap for security-related concerns for Terraform Cloud platform services and infrastructure
• Establish and foster best practices around platform security and performance  

• Experience building and scaling distributed, highly available systems
• Expertise with one systems language, and experience with many more (we use Ruby/Rails and Go primarily)
• Strong application/infrastructure security background with production systems
• Experience debugging performance bottlenecks for live services and systems
