Barrel is looking for a Solutions Architect to join our remote-first team - you can work from anywhere in the US. A Solutions Architect is responsible for interfacing with our clients to identify and collect their needs, scoping and estimating technical solutions on projects, supporting development execution planning, and help lay the foundations so that projects are completed to specification within an established time frame and budget. A Solutions Architect is a subject matter expert within the company regarding technology related to full-stack web development, e-commerce, and content management.
Responsibilities:
·Analyze, plan and develop requirements and standards in reference to project plans
·Research and evaluate software technology options and weigh the cost/benefit analysis when relying on third-party platforms, apps, plugins, services, etc.
·Conduct research and assist on new business estimating/scoping efforts
·Brainstorm and communicate technical solutions directly with clients in a courteous and professional manner
·Understand our clients needs and their businesses to best solve their challenges
·Contribute to best practices, workflows, and standards and company knowledge sharing
·Present simple solutions and alternatives to complex and pricey problems
·Partner with the team and plan against desired technical solutions, while assisting with the execution of current projects and new tasks
Skills:
- Strong web and Mac desktop skills – we use Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and various web-based tools such as Asana, Notion, Pitch, Basecamp and Harvest
- Able to communicate professionally with technical and non-technical internal teams and clients
- Advanced understanding of software technology; ability to break down complex problems/asks and present ideas in a clear manner
- Proven ability to manage large scale technology projects successfully
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong communication skills (both in person and in writing) while interacting with individuals with a range of technical understanding
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Experience:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in relevant field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 3 + years experience within software engineering; prior experience working in a design or advertising agency is a plus
- Knowledge of Shopify, Headless and WordPress is a plus
