Realm is seeking an experienced sound designer to join its growing audio team. You'll be working with one of the leading fiction podcast companies to create truly immersive, cinematic, and transportive audio experiences. This full-time position is remote-friendly and reports to the Head of Audio for Realm.

Realm was co-founded by former Penguin Random House executive Molly Barton and former Obama Administration Dept of Justice lawyer Julian Yap. Realm shows are available as podcasts everywhere, and on their own app, awarded “Best of the Year” by Apple.

You are:

• An amazing sound designer, who has demonstrable experience in creating narrative audio soundscapes and immersive audio experiences in podcasts or other new media
• Very knowledgeable about the podcast world, especially narrative or fiction podcasts
• Passionate about storytelling
• Enormously detail-oriented, efficient, and flexible
• Someone who takes serious pride in their work and whose standards of quality are unmatched
• A strong communicator
• Extremely organized and able to balance many projects and deadlines at once
• A proactive team player who loves being a part of a small, nimble, and very fast-moving startup
• Curious and excited to learn
• Someone with a great sense of humor

Major responsibilities include:

• Sound designing Realm's narrative podcasts, including soundscapes, ambient music design, and other related tasks
• Working closely and collaboratively with the audio and content teams to ensure the highest quality podcast delivery
  

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of dedicated experience in sound design
• Extensive experience processing and mixing dialogue into narrative design
• Very comfortable using Protools
• Strong understanding of dynamic processing and ability to meet loudness specifications, including RMS and LUFs
• Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and balance deadlines 
• Bonus: Experience working at a podcast studio
