As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, the advanced technology lead will play a key role in establishing and growing an Advanced Technology practice with the goal of embracing tech-driven disruption and promoting an "Innovation is Everywhere" environment within IT. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about next generation technology and the change it can bring while pragmatic and insightful about its application in support of various business units within Salesforce.The advanced technology architect lead will monitor tech developments broadly but will shortlist a select few for deeper exploration. Key responsibility will be to identify, analyze and socialize potential applications of next-gen technology to support the internal business processes. S/he will work closely with the IT, business leaders, technology and product teams to discover, evaluate, prototype, derive insights and influence opportunities for further investment.This role will report to the VP of Enterprise Architecture.Responsibilities:

+ Build an internal and external network with emerging tech thought-leaders, researchers and innovators

+ Proactively seek out next generation technology trends and perspectives; curate and categorize based on quality, provocative thought leadership and applicability to support Salesforce's internal business processes

+ Ensure impact and outcomes from the advanced technology practice are measured and communicated to the key stakeholders

+ Promote the advanced technology processes, strategies and recommendations to the organization, including the enterprise's IT and business leaders

+ Participate in the architecture community of practice, IT technology talks, external events and customer briefings

+ Participate in developing the long term strategic direction of the company's IT enterprise architecture discipline

+ Participate in the architecture community of practice, IT technology talks, external events and customer briefings

+ Participate in the evaluation and definition of the EA guiding principles

Required Skills/Experience:

+ 15+ years progressively responsible experience in information technology, including substantial senior level technical and architecture experience

+ Passion and genuine curiosity for the innovation thought process and leadership with proven success in identifying trends and gauging applicability of emerging technology to business use cases

+ Ability to track many industry and internal information sources and stay current on the latest in changing technologies. Synthesize and share innovation insights

+ Ability to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies

+ Prior experience leading and collaborating with product development team members to build and commercialize new products and/or services utilizing design thinking and iteration methodology

+ Exposure to multiple, diverse emerging technologies and processing environments

+ A never-ending curiosity and desire to grow and learn

+ Comfortable and adept operating in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment

+ Comfortable acting independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments

+ Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of a robust, scalable architecture that encompasses technology solutions to enable business capabilities

+ Ability to define, maintain and manage architecture models, frameworks and artifacts and their building blocks (lower level component) for the enterprise

+ Ability to estimate the financial impact and measure the ROI for new technology solutions

+ Experience in a broad range of industries, especially in high-tech industry

+ Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, influencing and negotiation

+ Strong leadership and presentation skills

+ Excellent analytical and technical skills

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Application development experience (force.com, Heroku, Java or C#) is a plus

+ Experience with Salesforce platform (force.com and Heroku) and cloud technologies is a plus

+ Salesforce certification is a plus
