Red Hat's SAP Alliance Technology team is looking for a Technical Writer to join our team of Red Hatters working at SAP's headquarters in Walldorf or Rot, Germany. In this role, you will help us promote customer loyalty and success through content development and delivery. You’ll work closely with developers, engineers, and other subject matter experts to create content that helps our customers successfully use our offerings and solutions. You will serve as a technical writer, but you’ll work on far more than documentation. You’ll works closely with engineering teams to develop working code examples. You’ll guide the direction and content of the documentation. You’ll participates in customer feedback programs to ensure customer relevancy of our content. You’ll devote time to research and understand the product, as well as related trends and topics in data virtualization and analytics. You’ll be responsible for all documentation and blogs about Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Virtualization, and other Red Hat's offerings together with SAP NetWeaver and SAP HANA offerings.


  • Work closely with content strategists, engineering project teams, support teams, and other stakeholders to create and maintain high-quality documentation for upcoming releases of Red Hat's offerings
  • Effectively manage documentation projects and deliver customer-focused documentation
  • Engage and collaborate with customer feedback programs to address content gaps, respond to direct customer feedback, and promote continuous improvement of the documentation experience
  • Stay current on changes in our offerings, customer use cases, and support issues
  • Define the blogging strategy

  • Fluent communication skills in English; ability to write and speak in German is a plus
  • Experience writing clear and concise procedural documentation for a technical audience
  • Ability to collaborate in a global team environment, proactively engage subject matter experts, and follow through on commitments
  • Experience with software development environment
  • Working knowledge or experience operating in a Linux environment
  • Experience with agile and comfort with rapid iteration and fast delivery
  • Ability to read, write, and compile technical documents, including feature descriptions, customer use cases, and release notes using industry best practices

Experience with the following is a plus:

  • Familiarity with subject areas like SAP NetWeaver, SAP HANA, analytics, data virtualization, in-memory databases, cloud deployments, relational databases, and data warehousing
  • Familiarity with version control systems; experience and comfort with Git is a big plus
  • Familiarity with Red Hat's offerings and related industry offerings
  • Experience with information architecture or 3-5 years of enterprise-level technical writing experience
  • Experience with modular and topic-based documentation
  • Familiarity with AsciiDoc
