Description

Float, the world’s leading resource planner, is looking for a UX Research Lead that will help us better understand our growing audience, find answers to the ‘why’ questions, and challenge us to ask new questions.

We’re a team of people living our best remote work lives. From New York to Melbourne, Canada to South Africa - our team of Engineers, Product Managers, Marketing and Customer Success folks work asynchronously to help teams plan and manage their time better. Float is self-funded, profitable, and growing. If you’re a self-starter, aligned with our values, and are looking to join a team that’s passionate about helping others work and live more productively, we want to hear from you. Here are a few tips from our CEO to make sure your resume stands out from the crowd.

Who We’re Looking For

A researcher with expert knowledge in user experience for software services, ideally for a global scale-up SaaS. You use conversation as a research tool and seek out relevant audiences to converse with and uncover solutions to problems. You have proven experience working with a product team and can communicate these research learnings and data with clarity and detail.

Curious by nature, you might also be interested in Psychology and Behavioral Economics and aware of how biases can impact your data gathering. As the first UX Researcher at Float, this role reports to the CEO and speaks to global audiences across time zones.

We are looking for a UX Researcher who is in love with the craft and although not a designer, understands how to use design tools like Figma to make quick edits as needed.

We expect that the successful candidate will have significant expertise in the following areas:

  • Experience developing research plans, writing interview scripts and surveys
  • Extensive experience with remote user interviews and tests
  • Understanding of SaaS performance metrics and industry best practices
  • Understanding of CRM tools (Intercom), video tools (Loom) and research tools (Lookback, Dovetail)
  • Ability to synthesize data into actionable insights and takeaways for teams across the business
As a fully remote team, we're looking for someone who is able to take responsibility, lead with good intent and continuously improve not just themselves, but the team around them. Asynchronous is the default form of communication at Float, and we have very few meetings, so you’ll have long stretches of time to focus on deep work. Everyone at Float leads by example and sets the bar for quality. If you have strong opinions about UX research and are interested in sharing these views within the community and across the Float team, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

You will be working directly with our Product team to gather customer insights via interviews, surveys and various qualitative methods, as needed by the team, to inform strategy or gain insights to help validate potential features. As our first dedicated researcher, you’ll develop the framework to identify Float’s ideal customers and define how we best meet their needs as our customer base grows. Your work will be measured by improvements to Product success metrics focused on Monthly Active Users (MAUs).

What We Offer

The salary for this role is US $135k

We have a range of expanding and improving benefits and perks including:

  • Home office expense budget
  • Co-working expense budget
  • Health & Fitness budget
  • Annual team meetup
  • Care for your community
For those in the US, we’ll pay 50% of your medical, dental & vision coverage, including partners and children. Since our HQ is in New York, those outside of the US will be hired as contractors—but don’t worry—you’ll have access to the same great benefits. We’re a global company and we encourage people of all different locations, nationalities, backgrounds, and perspectives to apply.
