Position Objective:To participate in the development, design, and implementation of websites for the PETA Foundation and its supported organizations, paying particular attention to detail and scalability Primary Responsibilities and Duties:• In consultation with the PETA Foundation and its supported organizations and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by them:    o Initiate and lead improvements in processes and standards of construction and maintenance of the supported organizations' software applications    o Develop technical functionality and implementation of the supported organizations' Internet sites     o Assist in defining the functionality required to support elaborate Web interfaces and software applications efficiently    o Recommend and initiate improvements to the supported organizations' sites, operating procedures, and use of technology     o Serve as a primary point of contact for WordPress technical queries• Assist in the creation and maintenance of development-related standard operating procedures • Document work and develop necessary support documents or assist the team with development documentation• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisorQualifications: • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent work experience• Minimum of five years of related experience in website development roles• Demonstrated experience developing WordPress plugins and themes (authorship of publicly available plugins/themes on the WordPress Plugin Directory/Themes Directory a plus)• Demonstrated experience providing creative solutions in an agile environment• Regular contributions to the WordPress Community (Support Forum, Documentation, etc.)• Extensive experience with the following technologies:        o Apache        o MySQL        o PHP        o Nginx        o WordPress        o WordPress coding standards and best practices        o WordPress Community        o WordPress multisite        o WordPress plugin development        o WordPress theme development• Demonstrated experience using GitHub in a distributed development environment• Proven success as a Web developer• Familiarity with the following technologies/programs/platforms:        o BuddyPress        o CDN (Content Delivery Networks)        o Responsive frameworks (Foundation, Bootstrap, etc.)        o Laravel framework        o WooCommerce• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
